We get asked all the time, "Can I be a member?", "How can I join your team?", and "What does it take to be a member?"
Let me begin by explaining that we are always on the lookout for quality people that may want to join us. Unfortunately, not everyone meets the standards that I am looking for to represent Central Illinois Paranormal. I know that I may catch some heat for this post but I am ok with that, as I am building a membership of quality researchers and investigators for a professional team.
It is fairly easy to be a part of our team. Firstly, one must apply. Everything we do gets documented, including membership. Nobody has to believe in ghosts or the paranormal to join. Does it help if you do? Not necessarily for my team, as we will always look first for natural, or normal, reasons why something is happening, rather than jumping to the para-normal reasons. So, to have people that are more skeptical than not, is more useful to the end goal than being a full believer, although, there is nothing wrong with believing 100% in ghosts and paranormal phenomena.
Secondly, people must understand that we do not get involved with any of the "dark arts" such as Wicca, Witchcraft, Satanism, or anything of the sort. This would include living a fantasy life involving these, even "dressing" the part. We go into peoples homes and businesses, and our clients need to feel comfortable with who they let inside their personal spaces. If they think that we are going to let demons into their home or business, there goes any of our credibility as an organization. I will not allow that to happen. We are a professional organization, and we will dress and act professional. I have had too many drug users, OD recoveries, and people that wear pentagrams, among other like symbols, on their clothing and skin as a fashion statement, ask to join CIP. That is a very hard NO! For the record, I do not know the person pictured but is similar to who have been asking to join CIP.
Now, on to the good stuff. We seek people that have a genuine interest in exploring and researching the paranormal, and what may or may not exist around it. We are looking for passionate people that are willing to learn from the many years of research and experience I and others have put into it. Each new member, experienced or not, goes through a paranormal "basic training", which explores the scientific aspect of paranormal research, and the difference between a ghost hunter and a paranormal investigator, among other topics.
